What do you look for in a fitness coach?

I look for a class that has a positive energy, good direction and coaching… oh and a kick ass playlist :)

 

If you had a free weekend, how would you spend it?

I like to spend my free weekends exploring the wilderness with my amazing boyfriend and our two dogs.  Throw in a yoga class and brunch and I’m all in!

 

What do you fear?

My fears are not enjoying life fully and holding myself back because "I don’t think I can."

What tactics do you use to push through?

What if I had too!  Always want to be ready.

What do you look for in a fitness coach?

I  look  for a  coach that  will truly try  to engage with me as an athlete and understand where I am on my fitness journey. I’ve come a long way from weighing almost 250 lbs 2 years ago and I have a vision of where I want to be in another 2 years. My coaches have to have an appreciation for where I’ve been and where I want to go.

 

If you had a free weekend, how would you spend it?

Meaning a weekend without my kids?! I cannot even fathom what that would look like. I’d have to say it would include some leisurely mornings with good coffee, maybe spinning some music (I’m a techno and house DJ). There would definitely be some fitness involved, probably a barbell or sandbag and tire-flipping workout. A hike in Forest Park and a fancy meal at Le Pigeon or Ox.

 

What do you fear?

I fear reverting to a sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle. Until 2 years ago, I'd spent all of my adult life drinking too much and keeping an approach to diet that can only be described as “overly indulgent.” I also fear failing as a parent.

What tactics do you use to push through?

Pure grit! Mental toughness is not an inherent trait; not something you either have or you don’t. It is something that can be discovered, fostered, and developed with the right mindset.

What do you look for in a fitness coach?

I look for a fitness class that is upbeat, welcoming, and encourages people to not be afraid of fitness. The coaches I love to work with are easy to communicate with, listen to learn, respect my goals, challenge me, and keep it real no matter what.

 

If you had a free weekend, how would you spend it?

Naturally, I am an introvert so a free weekend for me will consist of tons of self-care and recharging! My time would be spent taking a Epsom salt bath with a good book and my meditation sounds.

 

What do you fear?

I have two fears: 

1. Allowing my past to hold me back as I grow older.

2. Being someone I am not. I have to remain authentic and true to myself no matter what the world says.

What tactics do you use to push through?

I love to remind myself that my daily habits and actions will either lead me to or keep me from accomplishing my goals. I also tell myself “Focus on the person you need to become in order to get to where you want to be”.

What do you look for in a fitness class and coach?

My favorite coaches create an environment that helps you find your own  bad ass and ensures you sprinkle in a dose of self compassion. 

 

If you had a free weekend, how would you spend it?

A point to point century bike ride somewhere in Eastern Oregon followed up with happy hour next to new and old friends.

 

What do you fear?

Two things: First, my mind and money depleting before my body making me dependent upon my kids. Second, Costco on a busy Saturday.  I am doing everything I can to avoid either.

What tactics do you use to push through?

I remind myself that I can do hard things and I revert to my birth chant which is repeating the Greek alphabet.
